Instagram is using AI to find teens lying about their age and restricting their accounts

Meta’s AI-powered tool is cracking down on underage users by identifying fake birthdays and other clues to flag potentially underage accounts and restrict them to Teen Accounts. While Instagram has long used age-detection AI, it now also flags accounts that might belong to teens with false adult birthdays—such as those celebrating "happy birthday" posts or reported by others. Parents are being notified, and users can opt out if mistakenly flagged.
